An analysis of data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES) between 1988 and 2004 showed that only 46% of Americans showed signs of exposure to secondhand smoke between the years of 1999 to 2004, a marked decline from 84% between 1988 to 1994. Children ages 4 to 11 showed the smallest decrease in exposure to secondhand smoke, from 85% between 1988 to 1994 to 61% between 1999 to 2004.  Please note this attached link will download a PDF presentation.
